Worcester Exchange, May 2013

Worcester/SACS/Rustenburg Leadership Exchange: 2nd – 4th May 2013

Our annual Inter-Schools Exchange creates a unique opportunity to widen cross-cultural horizons and build friendships. A key element of the exchange sees the SRCs of the three schools engaged in various teambuilding activities that help to strengthen individual perspectives and to promote understanding.

The focus areas are traditionally Leadership and Conflict Resolution. This year’s special theme aimed at promoting Social Awareness through Outreach. To this end, the boys and girls from the three schools visited the Sean Kelly School for autistic children where they presented the children with specially packaged toiletry gift packs. The experience was certainly an eye-opener. They also visited Pioneer Press where they were able to gain insight into how braille textbooks are produced for blind learners.

Fun elements of the Exchange included a visit to an olive farm and a BIG BRAAI on the slopes of the picturesque Slanghoek Valley. True Boland hospitality was the order of the day. The SRC boys thoroughly enjoyed the experience and made many new friends in the process. The Leadership Exchange remains as dynamic and popular as ever.
