Ithuba Trust
Please consider supporting SACS. With your help, we can build the most impactful school for South Africa, together.
The SACS Ithuba Trust is an alumni-driven initiative dedicated to providing financial support to previously disadvantaged students through bursaries. The trust’s vision, encapsulated by the isiXhosa word “Ithuba,” meaning “opportunity,” revolves around making education accessible to all, regardless of their financial backgrounds.
The primary goal of the trust is to establish a sustainable platform that raises funds to enable deserving young men, who would otherwise be unable to afford it, to attend SACS. The target is to maintain a fund of R15 million, supporting approximately 40 students per year. Recognising the challenge of inequality in education, investing in the Ithuba Trust is not only supporting SACS but also making a profound investment in the future prosperity of the nation, addressing and overcoming inequality through equal access to education.
The SACS Ithuba Trust is a recognised Public Benefit Organisation (PBO) set out in terms of S30 of the Income Tax Act, and donations made to the trust are tax-deductible in the hands of donors as per S18A of the Act. Additionally, the Trust qualifies as a Level 1 B-BBEE organisation, and any corporates who make donations to the Trust will qualify for B-BBEE points towards their scorecards under the Socio-Economic Development element.
The trust aims to assist boys of all ages attending SACS, with the selection process driven by the school to ensure transparency and fairness. The trust sustains itself through various initiatives, including donations from Old Boys, parents, and friends of SACS, an annual Legacy Dinner, and support from sponsorships and events.
